(OT): Preston!!!

February 15, 2006 · 1 Comment

Sixteen years after seeing them for the first and only time, I'm heading to Preston next week to see UK thrashers Xentrix, play in their original line up for the first time in 13 years!!! Then I'm off to Barrow in Furness in March to see them again as they play a special gig for Macka's birthday. Costing a small fortune but definately worth it!!!

Finally! The collection is complete

July 11, 2004 · No Comments

I finally managed to get a record I've been after for 14 years. A nice German bloke put "The Order of Chaos" cd single by an old English thrash metal band called Xentrix up for auction on Ebay. I've got everything else by Xentrix, including their cover of Ray Parker Jr's Ghostbusters, both in it's original banned sleeve and the one it was finally released in. Anyway, needless to say I had to pay quite a few Euro's for it ... but it was definately worth it.

Exodus gig

June 23, 2004 · 1 Comment

Well, I've just got in from tonight's Exodus gig at the Glasgow Cathouse and I've got a grin that a plastic surgeon couldn't remove. Having arrived myself on the thrash metal scene back in '89 I only managed to catch the tail end of the scene itself before it died in the early nineties. Lucky the scene is thriving again 10 years later, and what with Anthrax touring like mad for the last two years, a new Megadeth album due in September as well as gigs from the old skool masters Death Angel (July 12) and of course tonight's Exodus show it's good to be old :) Here's tonight's set list: Scar Spangled Banner
Deliver Us To Evil
Black List
Piranha
Till Death Do Us Part
Parasite
Shroud of Urine
Fabulous Disaster
And Then There Were None
Forward March
War Is My Shephard
Bonded By Blood
Tempo of the Damned Encore:
The Toxic Waltz
Strike of the Beast
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

The Haunted

June 08, 2004 · No Comments

Just download a new MP3 from the Century Media web site called "99" from a band called the Haunted. The Haunted hail from Sweden and are, or indeed were quite literally awesome. Unfortunately their original singer, Peter Dolving, left after their awesome debut album but has since returned for what will be their fourth record, and this is one of the tracks off it. Quite simply, it's bone-crushingly good! Welcome back!
